THE NETHERLANDS - Eighteen months of strict inspections by tax officials and social security and labour inspectors show that many Chinese wok restaurants in The Netherlands evade taxes and hire illegal aliens.

The inspections led to more than EUR 7 million in tax assessments and fines. Out of a total of 66 restaurants inspected, 28 had illegal aliens on their staff. Three restaurants had fixed their cash registers to hide turnover from the tax authorities.
