Child sex abuse suspect admits abuse at third crche
Robert Mikelsons who was arrested almost two weeks ago for sexual abuse of very young children at crèches in Amsterdam, has admitted abusing a child at a third day care centre, De Toverlantaarn.
The parents of the child in question have been informed. The abuse took place in August 2009. Mikelsons only worked at the crèche for nine days, he was sacked because his colleagues and management found him stubborn and difficult to work with.
On Friday, it emerged that Mikelsons had been convicted of possession of child pornography in Germany in 2003.
Mikelsons worked between February 2007 and June 2009 at different branches of daycare centre Het Hofnarretje in Amsterdam. Between October 2009 and January 2010, he was employed at Jenno's Knuffelparadijs.
Both daycare centres have received support from the local public health organisation, the GGD. From Monday, this job will be taken over by qualified staff from two of the capital's child welfare organisations. There are reports of people shouting abuse outside the crèches in question, and making threatening phone calls.
