AMSTERDAM — Escaping pigs caused the closure of a road in Friesland on Thursday morning.
The consignment of pigs, reported to number some 200 animals, was released onto the road when the truck in which they were traveling in tipped over.
Both sides of the N359 between Bolswaard and Parrega were closed as police officers and fire fighters struggled to catch the fleeing hams.
Shortly after the accident, a police spokesperson declined to estimate how long it would take to round up all the animals and open the road again.
