THE HAGUE – The cabinet wants 200,000 more people to find jobs in the coming four years. Social Affairs Minister Piet Hein Donner said this at a conference today in Rotterdam.

He said that investments should primarily be put into groups that have difficulty finding jobs. Donner said the long-term unemployed is one such group.

The details of the plans still have to be worked out in consultation with employers' organisations and trade unions. It is unclear when talks between the government and social partners will begin.

Donner also wants people to continue working longer. He thinks that people will be willing to work until the age of 65 if they feel that the company needs them.
