Schiphol expects today to be the busiest day of the year. The airport expects to handle a record number of some 170,000 passengers. Last year the busiest day of the year was 21 July with more than 165,000 passengers.

The queues at passport control will be long; cabaret artists will therefore give performances to entertain the waiting passengers. In a playful way the artists will point out to the passengers what they may and may not take on board the aircraft in the transparent plastic bags.

On average 158,000 passengers a day are travelling via Schiphol Airport in July and August, this is some 8,000 more than last year. The airport expects to handle a total of 9.8 million passengers during the holiday season.
