THE NETHERLANDS - A continuing strike by bus drivers demanding a better collective labour agreement means that regional buses will not be running today in most of the Netherlands. The strike is expected to last until Thursday.

However, buses did run during the morning rush hour, because of the final exams which have started at Dutch high schools this week. Passengers travelled for free, because drivers were not checking or stamping tickets.

A new wage offer made by the employers on Saturday has been rejected by the unions.
