Bureaucracy delays temporary radio/TV mast
The construction of a temporary transmission mast in the grounds of the military barracks in Assen, in the north of the Netherlands, has been delayed because there is no environmental licence.
The mast is intended to take over the functions of the TV/radio mast at Hoogersmilde, which collapsed last Friday after a fire.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs assumed that building it on land belonging to the Ministry of Defence meant no licence is required.
However a spokesman for the municipality of Assen said ”We’ve investigated the matter and it turns out that a licence has to be issued.” Mast-owner Novec wanted to start building the 100-metre high mast on Tuesday.
