Manchester United keeper Edwin van der Sar will miss the start of the English football season, after surgery on a broken finger.

United Kingdom – Manchester United keeper Edwin van der Sar will miss the start of the English football season. The Dutch player has undergone surgery on a broken finger and bone in his left hand.

He sustained the injury last week saving a penalty by former Heerenveen player Danijel Pranjic, during the penalty shoot-out of the Audi Cup final against Bayern Munich.

Van der Sar has had surgery on the broken finger and is expected to be out of action for around eight weeks.
