A Britain-bound plane made an emergency landing at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport in the Netherlands Wednesday after a British passenger attacked flight attendants, Dutch police said.

Police arrested the Briton after the plane landed, police spokesman Robert van Cappelle told AFP. But he was unable to disclose the nature of the assault on the Poland-Britain flight and whether the man was armed.

"The captain thought that the situation was not safe and that an emergency landing was necessary," he said.

The passenger was lightly injured from the apparent scuffle but the remaining 156 passengers and flight attendants were unharmed, the spokesman added.
