Bos wants takeover bonuses reported

 24 August 2007

THE HAGUE – Finance Minister Wouter Bos wants companies to publicly report what extra remuneration their directors will receive in the event of a takeover of the company.

He will soon present a decree on this, Bos wrote in answer to written questions submitted by Labour PvdA MP Paul Tang.

Tang's questions came in response to the substantial bonus that Jan Bennink, CEO of baby food manufacturer Numico, received when the company was taken over by French Danone. Bennink reportedly received EUR 90 million.

Bos says that mandatory reporting of the bonuses will make it clear what a director has to gain from a takeover.
