AMSTERDAM - According to Dutch Finance Minister Wouter Bos, the fall in energy prices will lead to a greater increase in purchasing power in 2009.
The finance chief told the newspaper De Telegraaf that people are already noticing the drop in oil prices at the petrol station.
According to the paper's calculations, purchasing power will rise by one percent in 2009. Some segments of society will see a 1.5 percent increase although some pensioners will be worse off.
De Telegraaf's calculations are based on unreleased information prepared by the Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis.
