THE HAGUE – Finance Minister Wouter Bos does not think the new figures published by the Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB) give any reason to change his financial policy.
He said this Thursday after the conclusion of the cabinet meeting. The figures presented on Wednesday indicate slower economic growth, as expected, he said, but also confirm that the Netherlands is "doing particularly well" in comparison with other European countries.
The CPB predicts growth of 2.25 percent for this year and 1.75 percent for 2009. Unemployment will start rising next year again.
Bos is currently preparing the spring memorandum, which can make adjustments to the budget if necessary in response to financial windfalls or setbacks.
