AMSTERDAM — Train services are running normally between Amsterdam and Utrecht again after an abandoned bag left in a carriage is found to be harmless.

Some of the services running through Duivendrecht train station were suspended at 8.15pm on Wednesday.

A train on the way from Haarlem to Heerlen was evacuated when concerns were raised about a bag left in one of the carriages of the train.

A bomb disposal team was called in and by 9pm the all-clear was given. The bag was found to be harmless and was removed by police, a spokesperson for network manager ProRail said.

All train services running through Duivendrecht were back to normal by 10pm on Wednesday.
