A bomb scare at the main train station in the southern Dutch town of Tilburg has turned out ot be a false alarm. Train services were halted after police found a suspicious suitcase on a platform at the end of the morning. Travellers were advised to look for alternative routes.

The national bomb squad EOD was called in to investigate the small aluminium suitcase and a wide area around the station was also cleared.

By mid-afternoon, as the Friday rush hour began, the centre of Tilburg was still out of bounds. Meanwhile ring roads around the city clogged up. Police have warned road users to avoid Tilburg, if at all possible.
