Nieuwe Vide art space presents the exhibition Body Double curated by Emilie Oursel

The exhibition ‘Body double’ is an assembly of artists who do not take on the role of the pure ‘creator’ to introspect on image making and societies discourses but take on  the role of perhaps; a spokesman, an investigative journalist, a filmmaker, a campaigner or a representative of an industrial company. These roles are used to explore new possibilities of interaction with society. While strategies belonging to these professions are adopted, their specific deontology, academic criteria or frame are avoided. Once in role play, but still with an artistic eye, artists expose structures to reveal how images are produced and shaped, for example by the methods of a journalist. In a society of spectacle, the strong relation the public have with imagery and how images can become tangible truth’s that in turn can influence reality are raised and questioned.

Artists: Alain Declercq, Matthias Fritsch, Raymond Taudin Chabot, Anthony Howard, Michelle Christensen and Florian Conradi, Lauren Alexander,The Yes Men, Jonas Staal, Ubermorgen, Mounira al Solh and Wael Shawky.
