AMSTERDAM - The 23-year-old woman who threw her 1-year-old child from the fourth storey of the Bijenkorf department store in Amsterdam at the end of October before jumping herself has awoken from her coma.
A spokesperson for the justice department confirmed a report of this in De Telegraaf. The child did not survive the fall.
The woman is still in hospital and is in serious condition. The justice department regards her as a suspect and the police have now questioned her about the incident. The spokesperson did not want to comment further on what charge will be brought and the results of the questioning.
The incident took place while the department store was open, in front of many shoppers and store workers.
Earlier this year a man jumped from the Bijenkorf building onto the Dam and died shortly after. In the 1990s a man jumped inside the building from one of the upper floors and landed on a woman, who was paralysed as a result.
