Better to double-check on breast cancer

24 July 2007, EINDHOVEN – If, in addition to two radiologists, two laboratory assistants also look at the women’s breast x-rays, the chances are greater that breast cancer will be discovered. This emerged from research carried out by radiologist Lucien Duijm of the Catharina hospital in Eindhoven. The results will be published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

EINDHOVEN – If, in addition to two radiologists, two laboratory assistants also look at the  women’s breast x-rays, the chances are greater that breast cancer will be discovered. This emerged from research carried out by radiologist Lucien Duijm of the Catharina hospital in Eindhoven. The results will be published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

By double-checking, 6.8 percent more incidences of breast cancer are diagnosed, according to the researcher.
