Belgian soldiers hand out ammo to Dutch children
The soldiers are being investigated for handing out volatile blanks to children in the Dutch town of Den Helder.Den Helder -- The Belgian authorities are to investigate Belgian soldiers, who during a military exercise in the Netherlands, handed out blank ammunition to small children.
On Thursday children in the northern coastal town of Den Helder found dozens of blanks, which can explode if heated. CCTV footage from a take away restaurant shows Belgian soldiers handing out blanks to children.
The deputy mayor of the town is furious, calling the incident too idiotic for words. A spokesperson for the Belgian army says handing out ammunition to children is inadmissible.
The Belgian Public Prosecution Office is looking into whether the soldiers can be prosecuted.
