AMSTERDAM — The beachside municipality of Bloemendaal is considering contracting in a private security company to patrol residential areas on a 24-hour basis amid claims that many residents no longer feel safe.

Police patrols in Bloemendaal, near Amsterdam, have been scaled back due to recent budget cuts and local political party Liberaal Bloemendaal has proposed hiring a security company to ease public safety concerns.
