THE HAGUE – Bars and restaurants on the beach at Scheveningen can stay open later into the season than usual this year.

The structures will be allowed to stay up until 24 October instead of 3 October.

The municipality of The Hague announced on Tuesday it would try the experiment at the request of business owners.

Businesses must leave the beach empty and clean by 31 October and may not cause noise or other nuisances.

The city and the café owners will determine after the season ends whether to keep the tents open longer in the future.
