Bavaria's CSU wants fewer Turks and Arabs
Germany should focus its integration efforts on foreigners already in the country and stop admitting immigrants from Turkey and Arab countries, according to CSU leader Horst Seehofer.
The CSU is the Bavarian junior partner of Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrat CDU party, which has formed a coalition with the pro-market FDP.
In an interview with weekly magazine , Mr Seehofer argues that Muslim immigrants integrate less well than foreigners from the European Union. He therefore has "no patience", he declares, for people who are in favour of more immigration from countries with "different cultures".
Over the past weeks, Germany's immigration debate has intensified, partly due to two politicians whom the media have dubbed the "German Wilders".
