Balkenende: EC presidency not for me
In a written response to questions from the GreenLeft party, Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende says he does not want to become president of the European Commission.
THE HAGUE—Prime Minister Balkenende says deputy Prime Minister Wouter Bos had mentioned his name in connection with the job when talking to journalists last week. The Dutch prime minister says current EC President José Manuel Barroso is doing an excellent job and should serve a second term. European Union elections are scheduled for the end of the year.
