ALMERE – Police in Almere rescued a baby that was being held hostage on Friday morning.

Two women and the baby had been held prisoner in a home on the Waltdisneyplantsoen for several days, the police said on Friday.

One of the women managed to jump from a window. The other escaped as well and was brought to hospital with injuries.

The police were tipped off about the hostage situation on Friday morning. A special arrest unit arrested a man in the home. His motives are not yet known.
