AMSTERDAM — The baby removed prematurely from the womb after its mother was stabbed in the stomach has died in hospital on Wednesday.
The woman, 33, was eight-months pregnant when her husband stabbed her at a house on the Dantestraat in Rotterdam on Tuesday afternoon. The attack took place during a argument between the couple and a woman, 36.
The woman was rushed to Rotterdam Zuid hospital in serious condition and the child was delivered by Cesarean section. It was then moved to the Emma children's hospital, where it died.
A post mortem would be carried out to establish the exact cause of death, the police said on Thursday.
The man fled from the home after the stabbing and was arrested on the Colosseumweg by the police.
