AMSTERDAM — Police arrested a 68-year-old resident of Kaatsheuvel on Tuesday in relation to the discovery of a skeleton under a bathroom floor last month.

The skeleton is thought to be that of a 32-year-old man, of Turkish origin, from Waalwijk. His family filed a missing persons report about him in March 1991. A police investigation at the time failed to find any trace of him.

The remains were found under the concrete floor of a bathroom while a home in Lage Zwaluwe was being renovated on 21 July. DNA testing is being carried out to verify the identity of the skeleton. It has already been established the person was murdered.

Material found with the bones suggests the victim was tied up. The investigation is continuing.
