LOS ANGELES – California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger expressed great interest in the Dutch approach to water management in a talk with Economic Affairs state secretary Frank Heemskerk on Tuesday.

The Labour PvdA politician talked to the former actor about the topic during a visit to California. Schwarzenegger recently issued a bond loan of USD 9 billion for investments in water management.

The concern is not only protection against natural disaster in quake-ridden California, but also irrigation in agriculture, Heemskerk said after the meeting.

He invited Schwarzenegger for a visit to the Netherlands next year, once there is more clarity about the plans for water management in California.
