Objections against a trial involving Dutch anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders have been thrown out by a court in Amsterdam.

The trial for hatemongering and insulting a group of people will continue, although one of the charges will not be considered. Mr Wilders will not be prosecuted for describing the Qur'an as "a fascist book", but the other charges will stand.

Mr Wilders' lawyer Bram Moszkowicz wanted the charges brought by the Public Prosecutor to be thrown out.

The next session in the trial will be on 13 April, when three witnesses will be heard. This hearing will inquire into a possible attempt to influence defence witnesses.
