A contingent of 1,100 Dutch marines is based in the southern Iraqi province of Al Muthanna and the Cabinet must soon decide on whether it will extend the peacekeeping mission for another six months.

F-16 avoids friendly-fire mishap
The pilot of a Dutch F-16 fighter plane narrowly avoided killing three people during a joint training exercise in Norway on Thursday.

Fortunately the "dumb", unguided bomb failed to explode. The incident is under investigation.
