AMSTERDAM – An annual gala held in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam, has raised a record EUR 800,000 for HIV-AIDS research in Africa and Asia.

The AmsterdamDinner was attended by more than 1,100 guests and saw a host of musicians perform for free.

The funds will be used to follow the development of some 4,000 HIV-AIDS patients in 25 African and Asian countries over the next five years. In many developing countries HIV drugs are not available and their cost can be prohibitive.
