HOOGEVEEN – The owners of the wholesale animal store Annen Animal Center in Hoogeveen had a great number of dead animals removed from the premises on Thursday evening. On Monday several dozen people became unwell after visiting the animal centre. The cause has still not been found. The spokesperson reported that most of the animals that had died were birds. The cadavers were removed from the centre under the supervision of a municipal official and a veterinarian.

The crocodile habitat has also been dismantled and removed. It is not known how many animals have died.
