The Benelux branch of the World Society for the Protection of Animals WSPA has gathered 37,000 signatures for a petition requesting parliament to ban unstunned ritual slaughter. The WSPA said the petition would be presented to parliament on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, parliament will discuss a bill submitted by the Animal Rights Party to ban unstunned ritual slaughter. The bill has met with fierce opposition from religious Muslims and Jews.
