Amsterdam’s housing market slows down
About 15 percent fewer houses have been sold this year than in 2007.14 November 2008
AMSTERDAM – An increasingly number of buyers is having trouble financing the purchase of a new house, says the Dutch Association of Estate Agents. It also says it has become harder to sell a house and that many provisional agreements to buy are being dissolved.
The stagnation in the housing market is most noticeable in Amsterdam. Fifteen percent fewer houses have been sold this year than in 2007. Amsterdam estate agents say this is a considerable drop and note that there is not yet any sign of a slowdown in the slump.
