AMSTERDAM - Amsterdam Mayor Job Cohen says he will not enforce a ban on magic mushrooms until he receives clear guidelines from Interior Minister Guusje ter Horst.

The cultivation and sale of hallucinogenic mushrooms is illegal beginning 1 December, and violations are punishable by a prison sentence of up to four years.

A large number of customers purchased magic mushrooms during the last weekend in November, when they could still be sold legally.
