AMSTERDAM - A 23-year-old Amsterdam man who was stabbed over the weekend died of his injuries on Monday, police reported on Tuesday.
The victim stumbled into the police station on the Beursstraat on Saturday night with a stab wound in his stomach.
The police suspect the man was stabbed during an argument somewhere in the vicinity of the Warmoesstraat. In the course of Monday evening, the man died in hospital.
The man is the third person to die a violent death in the capital last weekend.
On Saturday a 19-year-old man was stabbed to death at the tram stop on the Koningsplein during a fight between two groups of youth. The police have arrested three in connection with the stabbing and are not ruling out further arrests.
On Saturday evening the police found the lifeless body of a 27-year-old woman in a home in the Ookmeerbuurt. A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the woman's death.
