AMSTERDAM - On Saturday, the medieval canals of Amsterdam are due to feature in what will be the longest panoramic picture ever made.

Microsoft, that initiated the project, told Dutch media on Tuesday that 40 amateur photographers will take pictures of the famous canals stretched over a length of eight kilometres.

The pictures will be taken from boats in the canals and put together to create the longest panoramic picture ever made.

Microsoft hopes the panoramic picture will enter the Guinness Book of Records.
