Amsterdam blast car was booby-trapped
Police in the Dutch capital Amsterdam have confirmed that a car explosion on Wednesday was the result of a booby-trap. Two men escaped unharmed when the rear of their car blew up outside the Amstel Hotel; they were protected because their BMW was armoured.
The two men made a statement at a nearby police station. A police spokeswoman said one of them was known to police. She added that the men's statement strongly suggested that the explosion was intentional, although she refrained from using the term "attack".
