Dutch chemical giant AkzoNobel has reported a 13 percent rise in turnover over the second quarter of 2010. The increase to 3.9 billion euros is ascribed to a general economic recovery and to internal reorganisation at AkzoNobel. The actual figures exceed analysts' expectations by 0.2 billion euros.

The company's Chief Executive Hans Wijers expressed optimism about the second half of 2010, saying AkzoNobel appears to have weathered the economic storm quite well.

According to an AkzoNobel press statement, its turnover in China alone could have increased to 3 billion dollars by 2015.
