Ajax restores honour in draw against AC Milan

Amsterdam’s Ajax has drawn 1-1 with AC Milan in the home game in group G of the Champions League. Two weeks ago, the Dutch premier league leader suffered an embarrassing defeat against Real Madrid. Tonight’s play restored the honour of the Amsterdammers.

The first goal of the match was made in the 23rd minute of the first half by Mounir Al Hamdaoui after a pass via Loius Suarez. It was Suarez’s debut in the European competition as he was suspended in the match against the Spaniards. After just over half an hour into the game AC Milan’s Ibrahimovich equalised as Ajax’s Vurnon Anita nursed an injury on the sideline.

Play has to be suspended in the sixth minute of the game after fireworks were thrown onto the pitch.

Ajax will play against Auxerre for third place in the group, which is enough to get through to the next round of the Champions League after the winter break.

Tomorrow FC Twente plays Tottenham Hotspurs in group A.
