Ajax effortlessly defeated RKC Waalwijk 5-1 in a home game on Thursday and will face FC Twente in the KNVB Royal Dutch Football Union cup final in the Rotterdam stadium De Kuip on 8 May. The more than 28,000 spectators at the Amsterdam ArenA watched Lorenzo Ebecilio score the first Ajax goal in the 13th minute of the match. Ajax left-back Daley Blind restored a measure of hope to the RKC Waalwijk squad when he headed the ball into his own goal in the 27th minute. However, just six minutes later, Mounir El Hamdaoui put Ajax back in the lead.

The home team decided the cup match against the number two of the first division in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Siem de Jong and Demy de Zeeuw scored in the 55th and 58th minute of the game. Siem de Jong also scored the fifth and final goal of the match.

Ajax, currently the number three in the Premier League, was the winner of last year’s KNVB cup tournament.
