Ajax closing in on Premier League front runners

FC Twente missed out on an opportunity to take over the lead in the Premier League after front runner PSV lost 0-1 to ADO Den Haag on Saturday evening. FC Twente, the current national champion, played FC Utrecht to a 1-1 draw and now both PSV and FC Twente have 47 points, but Twente is still in second place in terms of goal difference.

The big winners of this weekend’s Premier League football are Ajax and FC Groningen. Ajax beat De Graafschap 2-0 on Friday evening and has narrowed the gap with the two front runners to just three points. FC Groningen mercilessly defeated last-comer Willem II. Coach Pieter Huistra beat the Willem II squad 7-1 in a home game which means it's now just four points behind PSV and FC Twente.

Feyenoord scored its first point of 2011. After three defeats, the Rotterdam squad managed to realise a 1-1 draw against Vitesse. Heracles Almelo defeated Roda JC 1-0 in a home match. The remaining results of this weekend:
