In the Premier League, Ajax has gained some ground on PSV. The Amsterdam club beat VVV-Venlo 2-0 and now is only three points behind leaders PSV, who lost an away match against NAC in Breda. Substitute Mido scored the first goal for Ajax and Miralem Sulejmani the second. FC Twente are now on a par with PSV. The titleholders beat NEC in Nijmegen 4-2 on Saturday.

Feyenoord worked their way up a little from the nether regions of the Premier League, winning 2-1 in a home game against ADO Den Haag. Dmitri Boelikin scored the first goal of the game, giving the Hague club a head start after a rare mistake by a Feyenoord defender. After half-time, ADO player Aleksander Radosavljevic scored an own goal before Luc Castaignos added the winning goal for Feyenoord.

Heracles of Almelo beat FC Utrecht 2-1. Less than two minutes after Utrecht striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel missed a penalty, team mate Alje Schut headed the ball into the net behind his own goalie. Tim Cornelisse scored the only FC Utrecht goal and Willie Overtoom of Heracles put home a penalty just before the final whistle, at least temporarily saving the Almelo club from relegation.

Vitesse held De Graafschap to a 1-1 draw. Both goals were scored in the first half. Youssouf Hersi scored for De Graafschap and Wiljan Pluim scored the equaliser for Vitesse. Both clubs remain in middle region of the league.
