In the Premier League, Ajax has gained some ground on PSV. The Amsterdam club beat VVV-Venlo 2-0 and now is only three points behind PSV, which lost an away match against NAC in Breda. Feyenoord slightly worked its way up from the nether regions of the Premier League by winning a home game against ADO Den Haag, 2-1. Heracles Almelo beat FC Utrecht 2-1. Less than two minutes after Utrecht striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel missed a penalty, fellow player Alje Schut headed the ball in the net behind his own goalie. Tim Cornelisse scored the only FC Utrecht goal, and Heracles player scored the deciding just before full time, at least temporarily safeguarding the Almelo club from relegation.

Vitesse played De Graafschap to a 1-1 draw. Both goals were scored in the first half.  Youssouf Hersi scored for De Graafschap, Wiljan Pluim scored the equaliser for Vitesse. Both clubs remain in the lower regions of the middle bracket.
