AMSTERDAM - Employment agency Effe Werken (Just do the job) has concluded labour contracts for 70 hang-out youths in the Amsterdam sub-district Amsterdam-Noord during the past two years. The agency recruited youths hanging out on the streets.

This is one of the results of the action plan 'Samen voor Noord' (together for Noord) of the Amsterdam sub-district Noord, one of the poorest parts of the city.

Various bodies, including the municipality, housing corporations and the police have joined forces in the battle against degradation and crime in this sub-district.

The booklet outlining the results was presented to Mayor Job Cohen of Amsterdam at the town hall of the sub-district Noord.
