Abducted Dutchman freed in Afghanistan

The Dutch aid worker and his Afghan driver who were abducted in Afghanistan on 25 October are free.

Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal announced the news on Thursday. He said the Dutchman is now in a safe location and will return to the Netherlands as soon as possible. The minister said he was glad the abduction had ended this way. Mr Rosenthal thanked the Afghan authorities for their “bold intervention” which brought the situation to a satisfying conclusion.
