THE HAGUE – The motorists' association ANWB expects the Dutch roads to be busy from noon today as many people leave on holiday. Traffic congestion is particularly expected in the central part of the country.

The summer holiday starts today for 750,000 Dutch as schools close their doors in the three northern provinces Overijssel, Flevoland and Noord-Holland. About half of these people are expected to head abroad for holiday.

The ANWB expects a normal rush hour but does expect it to fall earlier in the day. Heavy traffic is expected on the A27, A1, A2 and A12 towards Arnhem from about noon.
