21 November 2007, AMSTERDAM -The AEX main index at the Amsterdam stock exchange lost further ground Wednesday, with a valuation continuing to remain below the psychologically-vital level of 500 points.

AMSTERDAM -The AEX main index at the Amsterdam stock exchange lost further ground Wednesday, with a valuation continuing to remain below the psychologically-vital level of 500 points.

At 10:46 am the index stood at 486.17 points or a loss of 1.15 percent from the previous day as the index was in its second week of operating at below the 500-point level.

The biggest early trading losses were at office equipment supplier Corporate Express, whose shares fell by over 4.6 percent. Chemicals and food additives company DSM shares dropped 3.5 percent.

Other companies who saw their share value drop were post company TNT (down 3.43 percent) and electronics company Philips (down 3.24 percent).

By contrast, shares of oil refinery and producer Royal Dutch Shell rose by 1.37 percent, while computer chip manufacturer ASML holding edged up 0.35 percent.
