AEX index opens with losses

AMSTERDAM (dpa) - The main index on the Amsterdam stock exchange AEX opened with slight losses on Friday.
At 9.01 am, the AEX index stood at 484.39 points, sliding further down in the minutes that followed. At 9.05 am, the index had dropped more than 1 percent.
As in the first four days of the week, the funds to lose out most were steel producer Arcelor Mittal, down 2.58 percent, GPS producer TomTom, down 1.06 percent and chemicals company Akzo Nobel, down 1.88 percent.
New in the list of top-four companies who saw their shares drop most was supermarket international Ahold, down 2.07 percent.
Thursday, the AEX had dropped by 3.02 per cent and more losses were expected on Friday following the major losses suffered by the Asian stock markets earlier that day.
