The photograph published on the front page was not of the attacker but of another Dutchman who shared the same last name.

THE NETHERLANDS – The newspaper AD has apologised for publishing the wrong photo of the man who committed the failed attack on the royal family of Queen’s Day.

On Monday, the AD published a photograph of Karst Tates -- the man who attacked the royal family on Queen's Day on its front page. However, the man in the photograph turned out to be another person who happened to share the same last name as the attacker.

The editor of the paper, Jan Bonjer, offered ‘his sincere apologies’ and said the man's integrity has been severely harmed.

The newspaper will print a rectification on Tuesday.
