About half a million children from 2,500 Dutch primary schools will eat breakfast together this week. National School Breakfast Week is intended to focus attention on the importance of a proper breakfast for young children.

The week will officially start on Monday morning in 'Corpus', an attraction in the town of Oegstgeest where visitors can 'travel' through the human body. About 80 schoolchildren will have breakfast with athletes Marijn de Vries cyclist and Barbara de Loor former speed skater.

Another 60 children will eat breakfast in The Hague on Wednesday along with assorted politicians, including Health Minister Edith Schippers and Parliamentary Speaker Gerdi Verbeet.
