HOOFDDORP - 67 percent of women say they have encountered sexual harassment. 39 percent says they have been molested at some point, and 11 percent say they have been raped. This emerged from a study by weekly magazine Yes, which questioned more than 3,700 young women.
The forms of sexual harassment vary from sexually explicit remarks and annoying behaviour to molestation and rape.
Of the young women surveyed, 13 percent said they did not tell anyone about their experience because of fear, shame or feelings of guilt. In 68 percent of cases the perpetrator was someone the victim knew.
